अस्य श्रीशिवरक्षा-स्तोत्र-मन्त्रस्य याज्ञवल्क्य ऋषिः, श्रीसदाशिवो देवता, अनुष्टुप् छन्दः, श्रीसदाशिव-प्रीत्यर्थे शिवरक्षा-स्तोत्र-जपे विनियोगः ॥   Asya Shri Shivaraksha-Stotra-Mantrasya Yajnavalkya Rishi, Shri Sadashivo Devata, Anushtup Chhandah, Shri Sadashiva-Preetyarthe Shivaraksha-Stotra-Jape Viniyogah.

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है:-इस श्री शिवरक्षा स्तोत्र मंत्र का यज्ञवल्क्य ऋषि हैं, श्री सदाशिव देवता हैं, छंद अनुष्टुप् हैं। श्री सदाशिव की प्रीति के लिए इस शिवरक्षा स्तोत्र के जप का विनियोग किया जाता है।"

चरितं देवदेवस्य महादेवस्य पावनम् ।  अपारं परमोदारं चतुर्वर्गस्य साधनम् ॥ ।  Charitam Devadevasya Mahadevasya Pavanam. Aparam Paramodaram Chaturvargasya Sadhanam.

 

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है--यह मंत्र देवों के देव महादेव की चरित्र को पवित्र बनाने वाला है। यह चतुर्वर्ग के साधन (धर्म, अर्थ, काम, मोक्ष) को अपार और परम उदार बनाने वाला है।

यह मंत्र महादेव (भगवान शिव) के महत्वपूर्ण गुणों और उपास्य विशेषताओं को संक्षेप में स्तुति करता है। इसका जप करने से व्यक्ति को सद्गति, सफलता, आनंद और मोक्ष की प्राप्ति में सहायता मिलती है

"The story of the God of gods, the Great God, is purifying. It is the ultimate means for achieving the fourfold goals." (1)

गौरी-विनायकोपेतं पञ्चवक्त्रं त्रिनेत्रकम् ।शिवं ध्यात्वा दशभुजं शिवरक्षां पठेन्नरः ॥ Gauri-Vinayakopetam PanchavaktramTrinetrakam.Shivam Dhyatva Dashabhujam Shivaraksham Pathennarah.

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है- यह मंत्र गौरी और विनायक से परिपूर्ण, पांच मुख और त्रिनेत्र वाले भगवान शिव को ध्यान करके, दस भुजाओं वाले शिव की रक्षा स्तुति करने वाले प्राणी द्वारा पाठ किया जाना चाहिए।"

इस मंत्र के द्वारा शिव की सामर्थ्यपूर्ण और रक्षाकारी स्वरूप की प्रार्थना की जाती है। इसका जप करने से व्यक्ति को शिव के आशीर्वाद, सुरक्षा और समृद्धि मिलती है। यह मंत्र शिव भक्तों द्वारा नियमित रूप से जपा जाता है।

"A person who meditates upon Lord Shiva, who has Gauri (Parvati) and Vinayaka (Ganesha) with him, who has five faces and three eyes, and recites the Shivaraksha Stotra, which consists of ten verses, becomes protected."

गङ्गाधरः शिरः पातु भालमर्द्धेन्दु-शेखरः ।नयने मदन-ध्वंसी कर्णौ सर्प-विभूषणः ॥ Gangadharah Shirah Patu Bhalamarddena-Shekharah.Nayane Madana-Dhvamsi Karnau Sarpa-Vibhushanah

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है- "यह मंत्र कहता है कि गङ्गाधर (भगवान शिव) अपने शिरस्संबंधी सुरक्षा करें, भाल पर चन्द्रमा के समान शोभा दें। उनके नयनों पर मदन (कामदेव) के नाशकारी तीर बसें और कानों पर सर्प की अलंकारिक विभूषण हों।" (३)

इस मंत्र के द्वारा भगवान शिव की सुरक्षा, कृपा और सौंदर्य की प्रार्थना की जाती है। यह मंत्र शिव भक्तों द्वारा नियमित रूप से जपा जाता है।

May Gangadhara protect my head, may Bhalamarddhendra Shekhara protect my forehead, May the destroyer of Manmatha (Kama) reside in my eyes, may the serpent adorn my ears."

 

घ्राणं पातु पुराराति-र्मुखं पातु जगत्पतिः । जिह्‍वां वागीश्‍वरः पातु कन्धरां शिति-कन्धरः ॥Ghranam Patu Purarati-Mukham Patu Jagatpatih.Jihvam Vagishvarah Patu Kandharam Shiti-Kandharah.

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है- "यह मंत्र कहता है कि पुराराति (भगवान शिव) नाक की सुरक्षा करें, जगत् पति (ब्रह्मा) मुख की सुरक्षा करें। वागीश्वर (भगवान विष्णु) जीभ की सुरक्षा करें और शिति-कन्धर (यमराज) कंधों की सुरक्षा करें।"

इस मंत्र के द्वारा विभिन्न देवताओं की सुरक्षा और आशीर्वाद की प्रार्थना की जाती है। यह मंत्र द्वारा व्यक्ति देवताओं की कृपा, सुरक्षा और समृद्धि की प्राप्ति की आशा करता है। यह मंत्र शिव भक्तों द्वारा नियमित रूप से जपा जाता है

"May Purarati (the destroyer of cities, Lord Shiva) protect my nose, may Jagatpati (the Lord of the universe) protect my face, May Vagishwara (the Lord of speech) protect my tongue, may Shitikandhara (the one with a white neck, another name for Lord Shiva) protect my neck."

श्रीकण्ठः पातु मे कण्ठं स्कन्धौ विश्‍व-धुरन्धरः ।भुजौ भूभार-संहर्त्ता करौ पातु पिनाकधृक् ॥ Shrikantah Patu Me Kantham Skandhau Vishva-Dhurandharah.Bhujau Bhubhara-Samharta Karau Patu Pinakadhrik.

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है- "यह मंत्र कहता है कि श्रीकण्ठ (भगवान शिव) मेरी कंठ की सुरक्षा करें, विश्व को धारण करने वाले स्कन्ध (कंधे) की सुरक्षा करें। भूभार को संहार करने वाले भुजाओं की सुरक्षा करें और पिनाकी धारी (शिव) करों की सुरक्षा करें।"

इस मंत्र के द्वारा भगवान शिव की सुरक्षा, सौंदर्य और सृष्टि संहार के गुणों की प्रार्थना की जाती है। यह मंत्र शिव भक्तों द्वारा नियमित रूप से जपा जाता है।

"May Shrikantha (the one with a beautiful neck, Lord Shiva) protect my throat, may Vishvadhurandhara (the bearer of the universe) protect my shoulders, May the destroyer of the burden of the Earth (referring to Lord Shiva) protect my arms, may Pinakadhrik (the holder of the divine bow Pinaka, another name for Lord Shiva) protect my hands."

This verse continues the prayer for protection, invoking Lord Shiva's divine forms and attributes for different parts of the body. It seeks his protection for the throat, shoulders, arms, and hands, recognizing the significance of these body parts and invoking the grace and safeguard of Lord Shiva.

हृदयं शङ्करः पातु जठरं गिरिजापतिः । नाभिं मृत्युञ्जयः पातु कटी व्याघ्रजिनाम्बरः ॥Hridayam Shankarah Patu Jatharam Girijapatih.Nabhim Mrityunjayah Patu Kati Vyaghrajinambarah

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है-: "यह मंत्र कहता है कि शङ्कर (भगवान शिव) मेरे हृदय की सुरक्षा करें, गिरिजापति (पार्वतीपति) मेरे जठर की सुरक्षा करें। मृत्युञ्जय (भगवान शिव) मेरी नाभि (नाभिचक्र) की सुरक्षा करें और व्याघ्रजिनाम्बर (शिव) मेरी कटी की सुरक्षा करें।"

इस मंत्र के द्वारा भगवान शिव की सुरक्षा और रक्षा की प्रार्थना की जाती है। यह मंत्र शिव भक्तों द्वारा नियमित रूप से जपा जाता है।

"May Shankara (another name for Lord Shiva) protect my heart, may Girijapati (the Lord of Parvati) protect my abdomen, May Mrityunjaya (the conqueror of death, another name for Lord Shiva) protect my navel, may Vyaghrjina-ambara (the one wearing a tiger skin) protect my waist."

This verse continues the prayer for protection, invoking the divine forms and attributes of Lord Shiva for different parts of the body. It seeks his protection for the heart, abdomen, navel, and waist, recognizing their significance and invoking the grace and safeguard of Lord Shiva for their well-being.

सक्थिनी पातु दीनार्त्त-शरणागत-वत्सलः । ऊरू महेश्‍वरः पातु जानुनी जगदीश्‍वरः ॥ Sakthini Patu Dinarta-Sharanagata-Vatsalah.Uru Maheshvarah Patu Januni Jagadishvarah.

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है- "यह मंत्र कहता है कि दीनार्त्त-शरणागतों के प्रिय वत्सल (भगवान शिव) सक्थिनी (पैर) की सुरक्षा करें। महेश्वर (भगवान शिव) मेरे ऊरु (जांघ) की सुरक्षा करें और जगदीश्वर (भगवान शिव) मेरी जानु (घुटने) की सुरक्षा करें।" (७)

इस मंत्र के द्वारा भगवान शिव की सुरक्षा, दया और रक्षा की प्रार्थना की जाती है। यह मंत्र शिव भक्तों द्वारा नियमित रूप से जपा जाता है।

"May Sakthini (the powerful one) protect my thigh, may Deenartta-sharanagata-vatsala (the compassionate protector of the afflicted) protect my knee, May Maheshwara (the Great Lord, another name for Lord Shiva) protect my thighs, may Jagadishwara (the Lord of the universe) protect my knees.

This verse continues the prayer for protection, invoking the divine forms and attributes of Lord Shiva for different parts of the body. It seeks his protection for the thigh, knee, and specifically mentions the compassionate nature of Lord Shiva towards those who seek refuge in him. The verse recognizes the significance of these body parts and seeks the grace and safeguard of Lord Shiva for their well-being

जङ्घे पातु जगत्कर्त्ता गुल्फौ पातु गणाधिपः । चरणौ करुणासिन्धुः सर्वाङ्गानि सदाशिवः ॥ Janghe Patu Jagatkartta Gulfau Patu Ganadhipah. Charanau Karunasindhu Sarvangani Sadashivah

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है- "यह मंत्र कहता है कि जगत् का कर्ता भगवान शिव मेरी जांघ की सुरक्षा करें, गणेशपति (भगवान गणेश) मेरे गुल्फों की सुरक्षा करें। करुणा के सागर (भगवान शिव) मेरे चरणों की सुरक्षा करें और सदाशिव (भगवान शिव) मेरे सभी अंगों की सुरक्षा करें।" (८)

इस मंत्र के द्वारा भगवान शिव की सुरक्षा, प्रकाश और करुणा की प्रार्थना की जाती है। यह मंत्र शिव भक्तों द्वारा नियमित रूप से जपा जाता है।

"May Jagatkarta (the creator of the universe) protect my calf, may Ganadhipa (the lord of Ganas, referring to Lord Shiva) protect my ankles, May Karunasindhu (the ocean of compassion) protect my feet, may Sadashiva (the eternal auspiciousness) protect all my limbs." (8)

This verse concludes the prayer for protection, invoking the divine forms and attributes of Lord Shiva for different parts of the body. It seeks his protection for the calf, ankles, and feet, recognizing the importance of these body parts. एतां शिव-बलोपेतां रक्षां यः सुकृती पठेत् ।स भुक्त्वा सकलान् कामान् शिव-सायुज्यमाप्नुयात् ॥ (९) Etam Shiv-Balopetam Raksham Yah Sukriti Patet. Sa Bhuktva Sakalan Kamam Shiv-Sayujyamapnuyat.

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है- "जो सुकृती पुरुष इस शिव बलोपेत रक्षा का पाठ करता है, वह सभी कामनाओं को पूर्ण करके शिव सायुज्य को प्राप्त होता है।" (९)

इस मंत्र के द्वारा शिव-बल (शिव की शक्ति और सुरक्षा) की प्रार्थना की जाती है। यह मंत्र शिव भक्तों द्वारा नियमित रूप से जपा जाता है। इसके द्वारा सभी कामनाएं पूर्ण की जाती हैं और व्यक्ति शिव के साथ सायुज्य प्राप्त करता है, अर्थात् शिव के साथ एकीभाव में मिलता है।

मंत्रों का उच्चारण विशेष शुद्धि, भक्ति और समर्थ गुरु के मार्गदर्शन में ही करना चाहिए। मंत्रों का उच्चारण अनुभवी और अनुष्ठानीय विधि से किया जाना चाहिए।

"Whoever, with good intentions, recites this protective hymn dedicated to Lord Shiva, Having enjoyed all desires, attains union with Lord Shiva." (9)

This verse conveys that whoever recites this Shivaraksha Stotra with sincerity and good intentions will attain the blessings and protection of Lord Shiva. It states that by fulfilling their desires and seeking the grace of Lord Shiva through this recitation, one can attain union or oneness with Lord Shiva. ग्रह-भूत-पिशाचाद्यास्त्रैलोक्ये विचरन्ति ये । दूरादाशु पलायन्ते शिव-नामाभिरक्षणात् ॥ (१०) Graha-Bhuta-Pishachadyastrailocye Vicharanti Ye. Duradashu Palayante Shiv-Namabhirakshanat.

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है- "ये ग्रह, भूत, पिशाच आदि त्रैलोक्य में विचरने वाले हैं, वे तत्पश्चात् दूर हो जाते हैं, शिव के नाम की रक्षा से।"

इस मंत्र के द्वारा शिव के नाम की रक्षा की जाती है और नकारात्मक ऊष्मा, ग्रहों, भूतों, पिशाचों और अन्य दुष्ट शक्तियों से सुरक्षा प्राप्त की जाती है। यह मंत्र शिव भक्तों द्वारा नियमित रूप से जपा जाता है।

"Those beings such as planets, ghosts, and demons that wander in the three worlds, Quickly flee from a distance, being protected by the name of Shiva."

This verse suggests that supernatural beings like celestial bodies, ghosts, and demons who roam in the three realms (loka) are compelled to flee when they come in contact with the protective power of Lord Shiva's name. It highlights the potency of invoking the name of Shiva for protection from negative and malevolent forces.

अभयङ्कर-नामेदं कवचं पार्वतीपतेः । भक्त्या बिभर्त्ति यः कण्ठे तस्य वश्यं जगत् त्रयम् ॥Abhayankara-Namedam Kavacham Parvatipateh. Bhaktya Bibharti Yah Kanthe Tasya Vashyam Jagat Trayam.

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है- "यह अभयङ्कर नामों वाला कवच पार्वतीपति (भगवान शिव) का है, जो भक्ति द्वारा अपने कण्ठ में धारण करता है, उसका वशीकरण होता है तथा वह त्रिदेवों को वश में करता है।" (११)

इस मंत्र के द्वारा भगवान शिव के अभय और सुरक्षा की प्रार्थना की जाती है। यह कवच शिव भक्तों द्वारा भक्ति और श्रद्धा से पाठ किया जाता है। इसके द्वारा व्यक्ति का मन, शरीर और आत्मा शिव के अधीन हो जाते हैं और वह सम्पूर्ण त्रिदेवों को अपने वश में करता है।

This protective shield, named Abhayankara, belongs to the Lord of Parvati (Shiva). Whoever wears it around their neck with devotion, gains mastery over the three worlds."

This verse states that the Kavacha (protective shield) named Abhayankara is owned by Lord Shiva, the husband of Parvati. It mentions that anyone who wears this protective shield around their neck with devotion attains mastery and control over the three realms (trayam jagat). It emphasizes the power and efficacy of wearing this protective shield, implying that it grants divine protection and authority to the wearer.

इमां नारायणः स्‍वप्ने शिवरक्षां यथादिशत् । प्रातरुत्थाय योगीन्द्रो याज्ञवल्क्यस्तथालिखत् ॥  Imam Narayanah Swapne Shivaraksham Yathadishat. Pratarutthaya Yogindro Yajnavalkyastathalikhat.

इस मंत्र का अर्थ है: "श्री नारायण जी ने स्वप्न में शिवरक्षा को यथार्थ रूप में दर्शाया। उसके बाद प्रातः काल में उठकर योगीश्वर याज्ञवल्क्य ने इसे लिखा।" (१२)

यह मंत्र योगीश्वर याज्ञवल्क्य ऋषि द्वारा लिखित है और इसके अनुसार श्री नारायण ने स्वप्न में शिवरक्षा का दर्शन किया। इसे प्रातः काल में उठकर जपने और पाठ करने से शिवरक्षा की प्राप्ति होती है। यह मंत्र शिवरक्षा के प्रयोग की प्रशंसा करता है।

Lord Narayana revealed this Shivaraksha Stotra in a dream, And Yajnavalkya, the supreme yogi, wrote it down upon awakening."

This verse explains that Lord Narayana (another name for Lord Vishnu) revealed the Shivaraksha Stotra to someone in a dream. After waking up, the great yogi Yajnavalkya wrote down the Stotra as he received it. It indicates that the Stotra has divine origins and was passed down through revelation and transmission.
